Dave Menkehorst

Dave Menkehorst is a producer, drummer, and sound designer. He has recorded with artists like Henny Vrienten, Roosbeef, Dez Mona, and Bart Moeyaert, and toured with Bertolf, Niels Geusebroek, Paul de Munnik, Paskal Jacobsen, Douwe Bob and the supergroup Vreemde Kostgangers, consisting of Boudewijn de Groot, Henny Vrienten, and George Kooymans.

“My passion is to enhance the artist’s story. Music is so powerful in its form because you can support or frame a message with countless variables.”

Dave graduated from the Rock Academy in 2012 and has since played drums in successful bands like Sunday Sun and Sir Yes Sir, with whom he has performed at venues such as Pukkelpop, Paradiso, and Lowlands. Meanwhile, he has developed his own unique style as a sound designer and producer, where his background in IT allows him to combine the technical with the artistic. As a producer, he strives for a loving creative process, bringing the right people together at the right time. Observing, adjusting, and searching together for the most immersive, transparent sound to tell a story. Each album better than the last. Each concert more intense.

Together with composer Helge Slikker, Dave created “Polar,” a musical performance about Iceland, in which he performed as a multi-instrumentalist and filmmaker. This theatrical project brought them to venues including Iceland Airwaves and November Music.

In recent years, Dave has been working extensively with binaural recording techniques, a unique recording method in the Netherlands.
